Device-level management

- [Instructor] Device-level management is the traditional approach that you likely think of when you think about managing a network device, such as a switch or a router. As opposed to controller-level management, device-level management will give us complete access to the full configuration features of a device. This means that when we connect to a router, for instance, to manage that at the device level, we don't have to worry about not being able to accomplish what we've set out to do. We have full range of commands at our disposal. There are several downsides to mission. First, this can be extremely time-consuming. If we are managing a large enterprise network, and we need to make a significant network change, this is going to take a lot of administrative time and coordination. This is also more prone to errors. Take the simple circumstance of transposing numbers in the IP address. That's a human error that can cause unintended and disastrous consequences.
