Endpoint posture assessment
- [Instructor] When we talk about posture, we simply mean the compliance status of a device on our network. This concept is perhaps the most important for our end points, which presents a very large attack surface on our network. Each organization establishes their own criteria in order to determine what proper posture looks like for an endpoint, but we do have some common posture concerns that we want to mention. Those would be operating system patch and update status, local disc encryption, having an up-to-date anti-malware protection suite in place, and awareness of external devices such as USB attached storage devices, and many more considerations. One of the great tools for this is Cisco Identity Services Engine, or Cisco ISE. This tool allows us to set up endpoint posture policies for endpoints on our network, and we can vary these policies based on a user's role, their type of device, their location, and many other factors.
