Module introduction: Virtualization technologies

Here in module number 2, we're going to be considering virtualization technologies. We'll begin with a look at device virtualization. How do we use hypervisor software to virtualize servers, as well as virtualized network devices. We'll also consider data path virtualization. we're talking about VPN technologies such as GRE and IPSec. And we'll also consider VRF, Virtual Routing and Forwarding, where we can have multiple virtual routers running inside of a single physical router. And finally in this module, we'll turn our attention to network virtualization and take a look at a couple of really useful technologies. First is LISP, where the identity of a device can be broken into where one part identifies its location and the other part identifies that endpoint at its location. And secondly, VXLANs, virtual extensible LANs, because in data center environments, as an example, we can quickly run out of traditional VLANs, and VXLANs, they come to the rescue.
