- [Instructor] When I get to my system's desktop, I see a welcome screen. This provides links to learn about some of the features of openSUSE and includes a button to go to the software center, where we can search for and install new programs. This will pop up each time you log in, unless you deselect this check mark down here on the bottom right. You can also open this up later from the app menu by looking for the app called Welcome. Most of the screen is taken up by the desktop area, where we can store files and directories and where we can right-click to find some customization items and shortcuts to manage the appearance of the environment. Along the bottom of the screen is a panel that includes the app menu, a virtual desktop switcher, places where we can access running applications, and over on the right, there are some system icons.
