- Fedora Linux is available in three major additions, called Workstation server, and IOT. Fedora Workstation is intended for use as a desktop operating system. Fedora server is intended for use on a server with a console interface, and Fedora IOT is designed for use in embedded or internet of things devices, and also offers a console interface. There are two other emerging additions called Fedora CoreOS and Fedora Silverblue. Fedora CoreOS is focused on use in containers and Fedora Silverblue is based on an immutable boot image, making it suitable for containers and other applications as well. In this chapter, we'll focus on Fedora Workstation, which is a good choice for beginners as well as more advanced users, whether they're using a laptop or a desktop system.
