Distro hopping
- [Instructor] A common hobby or practice for some Linux enthusiasts is distro hopping, a term for switching between distributions on a primary or frequently used computer. We can do this to decide which distro suits us best by fully immersing ourselves in it or to give ourselves more practice with a wide range of different distributions. While it's fun, it's certainly not necessary. It's completely fine to pick a distro and use that one for a long time. If you use one distro at home and another at work, that's not really distro hopping. That's just life. It's also not really distro hopping if you have, like I do, many different distributions that aren't primary workspaces. At any given time, I usually have eight or 10 different distros and virtual machines that I use for learning, testing, and teaching. But none of them are systems that I have personal files saved in.
