- [Instructor] Invariably as CTO, you must make the platform decision. What are you going to build your main technology on top of? This is undoubtedly one of the largest choices you will make. The tough part is that there is no right choice. There are many choices for many different types of companies, apps, and growth curves. The bottom line is that what you want is predictability. As Reddit's former CTO, Martin Wiener famously said, "the boring tech revolution is here." The point being is that trying out the latest coolest tech is not what you want to be doing for your platform. You want something that is tried and tested, and that you can scale. That said not everything will scale with you. One thing constant in a growing business is that if everything goes right, you will need to grow quickly.
