Using AI to write a value proposition canvas

- If you're planning to launch a product or service, it's absolutely vital, make sure that you've got an audience eagerly waiting to buy it. Trust me, you don't want to end up with a warehouse full of diesel powered microwave slippers. So how do you ensure that you create a product that fits a market like a glove? Enter the value proposition canvas. This tool has got two integral parts. First up, we've got the customer profile section. This outlines your customer's jobs to be done, their pains, and their gains. Then we've got the value proposition section that lists your products, the gains they create, and the pains they relieve. It's like a matchmaking service for your product and your audience. If you're looking for more information on the value proposition canvas, you maybe check out this link right here. You're going to feed this prompt with information about your audience and your products. If ChatGPT needs more details, it'll throw some questions your way. And don't worry, it's simpler than it sounds. Let me show you. Now, this is a beast of a prompt, and I'm not going to read all of it out because much of it is just trying to explain exactly what the value proposition canvas is to ChatGPT. If you go along to the the link that I've given you that takes you to where all the prompts are, you can have a look at the prompt for this and have a proper read through it yourself, and you can see what each of the sections are about. But let me paste it in, and we will read through the beginning of it at least. You are an expert business strategist who is highly experienced in helping businesses develop successful products that are highly desired by profitable audiences. We are focused on, curly brackets, audience and delivering these, curly brackets, products. I want you to help me fill in a value proposition canvas. I've included information in the prompt, but if you need more information, please ask me questions like an interviewer. Ask me one question at a time, waiting for my response before asking me the next one. Please use markup to deliver responses to the following sections. And at this point, there are the six sections that are, that you find in the value proposition canvas, the jobs to be done, the pains, the gains, products and services, gain creators, and pain relievers. Okay, let's put in here our audience and our products. And again, what I'm doing is I am adding a good amount of information into the prompt. So our audience is working people who are frustrated with housework. And our products are a cleaning service that cleans and tidies your home when you're out at work so you're not disturbed. They stream what they're doing, so you can check on them at any time. And they have an app, so you can give detailed instructions for what you would like done in each room. The cleaner will message you if they have any questions. We also offer a gardening service in the same way so that everything is clean and tidy when you return from the office. Okay, now let's see if that's enough information or if it asks me any questions. Okay, so sure, I'd be happy to help you fill in the value proposition canvas for your target audience of working people frustrated with housework. Let's start with the jobs to be done section. So here we go. It's giving us the jobs to be done. So it's saying here, there's the jobs, functional importance. There we go. Social, emotional, frequency, importance. Great. Now let's move on to the pain section. Could you please provide me with a list of everything that annoys your audience when they're trying to get their jobs done? So if you excuse me, I will fill in this section right now. (upbeat music) Okay, so it's taken my input there, and it's turned into a list. Okay, it's now asking me another question. So I shall fill that in right now. (upbeat music) And again, it has taken my input, and it's given me sort of a nice numbered bullet points there. So I shall keep going. And I shall come back to you when everything is done at the very end. (upbeat music) Okay, it's continuing to ask me questions, but I feel as if I've probably given it enough information. So as it's asking me a question here, I'm just going to say- It's saying, how does your product or service offer added value to your audience? Please rank the gains according to relevance and frequency. Just going to say, can you do that for me please? Okay, now it's got all of the information all the way up the conversation that we have just done. So I'm going to ask it to please give me the entire canvas in one response. And there we have it. So filling in a value proposition canvas can be quite time consuming. It takes quite a lot of thought, but this is certainly a great start for filling it in. So you can take this information here, you can put it into some kind of template. You can make it look nice. And here we go. This is a great start for you to then apply your own thinking to to end up with something that is a great way of making sure that your product matches up with the needs of your audience. And there you have it. Now, remember, like any first draft from a chatbot, you're going to want to review this and make your own tweaks. Once you're happy with it, you can paste it into a template that I've created for you, giving a neat professional look. The next step is good old validation. Just like you would if you'd written all this information without the help of AI, nothing beats a bit of validation, except for a cup of tea and a slice of chocolate cake, but they pretty much beat anything.
