- Building the trust in my crew and passengers is obviously paramount to my success. One way to establish trust is to lead by doing. Self-leadership, serving selflessly, and sharing the risk all contributed to building a strong sense of your trust with your team. Providing excellent training and the resources needed to get a job done also motivates your employees and builds their trust in you. But above all, maintaining a positive and unstoppable attitude is what will inspire your employees to be loyal and do whatever it takes. As captain, I never let my crews see me look cold, tired, hungry, terrified. As an executive, demonstrating stamina, doing your part to do any job that needs to be done and managing stress with positive affirmations all lead to increased trust.
