- Let me ask you a question. Have you ever worn custom made clothes? Custom as in the clothes were made specifically for you? No off the shelf items that feel like they are custom made? Well, I have some custom made clothes and they feel awesome. You know, like they were made just for me? Okay, you're probably asking yourself, what does this have to do with tailoring? Well, similar to how clothes can be tailored specifically for you, projects can be tailored to meet their specific needs. Otherwise, you take a one size fits all approach for every project, and that's a definite no-no. PMI defines tailoring as the deliberate adaptation of the project management approach, governance, and processes to make them more suitable for the given environment and the work at hand.
