- Calling someone you've never talked to before can be a daunting task. Even the most experienced fundraisers dread making cold calls. But, why the dread? Cold calls result in a high level of rejection, which is no fun. Warm calls on the other hand, involve calling someone with whom you've had at least some prior contact. The stronger your connection, the warmer the call, and a far less likely chance of rejection. I'm going to share seven tips to turn cold calls into warm calls. Tip number one. Focus calls on prospects who have an existing connection to your organization. These include people you've met through networking were referred by supporters, who subscribe to your newsletter, who follow your work on social media, or who have reached out for information by phone or through your website.
