- Imagine you've walked into a grocery store and look at your long list of items you need for the week. It's easy to get overwhelmed. Where do you start? Did you forget anything? But chances are, you'll sort your items into groups and grab them as you go down each aisle. As a fundraiser, you may also feel overwhelmed when reviewing a long list of prospects. Narrowing the list takes careful thought and making it manageable is critical for success. In this lesson, I will show you how to begin classifying your prospective donors by characteristics and in categories. Effective fundraisers use classification systems to manage prospect relationships. These usually consist of four characteristics that when viewed together reveal a strong supporter.
