Because the impressions you create ultimately affect your ability to build and maintain your organization's positive reputation as well as attract the time and resources of perspective and existing donors. And in just a few seconds, there isn't time for an early opinion to develop based on your intelligence or experience. Instead, these opinions are solely based on your voice. In studying first impressions, Amy Cuddy, a social psychologist from Harvard Business School, found that we immediately assess people for two characteristics, their confidence and the level of trust they instill.
