- If you can host an event that allowed people to donate from all over the world at any time of day with just a few clicks, would you? Well, you can, using crowdfunding. The concept was born in 2008 and while it's still a relatively new way for nonprofits to raise resources, crowdfunding is popular, so much so that one in five U.S. adults have participated in such a campaign. There are a few reasons for this. Crowdfunding is goal-oriented, fast-paced, and engaging. It offers donors the chance to be part of something bigger than themselves, no matter the size of their donations.
