- [Instructor] Using a commercial loan request as a simple example, let's plot where each of these roles fits in the process so you can have a visual of where each player fits. A VP Commercial will usually oversee the relationship team, which is driven largely by the relationship managers or RMs. Analysts and associates frequently support the RM, sometimes multiple RMs, and work with the client as a team of three. Let's assume that the relationship team sources a client opportunity, which results in a proposal. That proposal will be submitted to the mid office, to the lender's adjudication team, or their risk management group for approval or for any necessary adjustments in order to meet the firm's credit guidelines and risk appetite. If considerable back and forth is required, or if it's an especially large deal or an especially high value client, then the VP may also be engaged to support negotiations and to offer their concurrence around any material deviations from a normal credit…
