From the course: Career Strategies for Women Re-Entering the Workforce
Intro: You're not alone
- If you are one of the millions of women looking to re-enter the workforce after 2020, you are not alone. Over 2.5 million women have exited the workforce altogether, and when compared to the 1.8 million men in the same position, it becomes clear. This pandemic has disproportionately negatively impacted working women in particular. So many working parents were put in an impossible position, having to choose between going to work for a paycheck or supporting their students and children through virtual schooling. Millions more just found themselves unemployed or furloughed and laid off for the first times in their careers. For women of color, who've been historically marginalized, they were hit even harder, and low wage workers were in a similar position after being historically underpaid, even before finding themselves completely out of work and out of options. 2020 has knocked so many women's careers off course, but there are reasons to be optimistic. Economists agree that there's a hiring boom on the horizon, especially as our economies begin to reopen fully in this post-pandemic period. if you're ready to restart your career after 2020, this is the LinkedIn Learning course for you.
