Microsoft 365 Online Services

- [Instructor] When we click on a user in Entra ID in the Azure portal, and I'll just scroll down and use my HRUser2 as an example, and then click on Licenses. You can see that no license assignment has been found, but there's no way to add any licenses here, and there's no way to purchase any licenses, and that's because it can only be done within admin.microsoft.com, which is the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Once you're in the Admin Center, you can go to Marketplace, and from there, go to All products. Then you would do a search for the product that you would like to purchase, and you can either buy it by the month or the year, and then you can assign it to a specific user. So, let's say I'd like to purchase the 365 Business Premium. I click on details, and then I can click either by the month or by the year and click Buy and my credit card will then be charged. Now, if you've never purchased this type of license before, you'll also see the option for doing a 30-day trial. I'm going to go to my Users and assign a user by clicking on Active users, a license I've already purchased, so that user can take advantage of that particular service. So, I'll go down to my HRUser again, and it'll bring up the HRUser2 properties, and I can go to Licenses. So, anything I purchased in that Marketplace now shows up here. So, let's say I want to make sure that that user has the Microsoft Cloud PKI License assigned. So, I'll click Save Changes, and now that particular user has that license. So, you can see in this case, it was just a trial license, which is going to expire soon, but it still works the same way. So, now that that user has that license, I can go back into Azure, within Entra ID, refresh, and you can see the licenses here. So, keep in mind that when you are trying to assign a license to user or purchase a license by the month or by the year, it can only be done within the Microsoft 365 Admin Center in the Marketplace section. The Azure Portal and Microsoft 365 Admin Center work together to provide your staff with single sign-on and access to many different types of applications and resources.
