Exporting a section of your project
- [Instructor] I'm going to show you how to export just a section of your project. A couple of reasons I do this: One, I may need just this section to send for review or to use in another project. Two, if it's a complicated section that's causing Camtasia to drag, I can replace just that section with a rendered video, freeing up my CPU and obtaining smooth playback. Okay, so let's walk through that. First thing I need to do is select the area that I want to export. I'm going to drag the playhead to exactly where I want it, and if I need to, I can use the period to go forward and the comma to go back frame by frame, and get it exactly where I want. Next, I'm going to use the handles to select that entire section, and in the blue area, right-Click and choose Produce Timeline Selection As. From the dropdown, I'm going to choose MP4 only up to 1080P. This should work great for most projects. Next, name it something that makes sense to me. Browse to my working folder. It looks like I'm already there. I'm going to uncheck this box. It's just a personal preference and click Finish. How long this export takes will of course depend on the length and complexity of the section, as well as your computing power, and when it's finished, I can Open Production Folder, and here is my rendered section. Click Finish to get rid of that, and Camtasia is going to make me go fishing for that file. I'm going to go ahead and drag that video right on top of this section. Line it up and now basically you can see here, if I AB this, I have a duplicate video. I'm going to keep this one. I don't need this whole section anymore. So I'm going to get it out of the way but I don't want to delete it. I may need it later. So to do that, I'm going to show you a little trick here. I'm going to right-click Track 1. Choose Insert Track Below and I'm going to call this Hidden. Now I'm going to select all of the clips in that section. Right-click 'em and choose Group, just to keep 'em all together. Going to drag that to my Hidden track and disable it. Now it's still there if I need it but it's not sucking up any CPU power, and I'll just replace that with my rendered video, and it should play back smoothly now. - [Playback] Throughout the course, we'll be deconstruct- - [Instructor] So there you go. That's how you export just a section of your project.
