- Business acumen is a competency about understanding business concepts, being business savvy, and understanding how businesses work. In requirements, it's about connecting the details of requirements to higher level strategies of the organization. It may seem hard, but it's needed to do great and analysis and it's a big part of the BA role. Brady the BA came from a technical background and then a very detailed operational background as well. Brady knows a lot about the business and technology. However, the strategies and bigger picture business needs have not been a part of this experience. It's a challenge to recognize the limitations and opportunities of solutions based on the market and business strategy of the organization.
