- One of the many challenges business analysts face is bringing the technical team up to speed on business terminology, relationships, and rules. In this video, I'll introduce you to the entity relationship diagram, or ERD, to make this job easier. As you perform analysis, you'll discover business data your solution will need to accommodate or use. For example, an online storefront would collect and store data about customers, orders and payments. An ERD will help communicate relationships between key entities and the business data that's most important to the solution. Now, before we get into building the ERD, you need that data. One way to discover it is to review your process model from our last video. Ask data-probing questions to your stakeholders, such as what data is involved in each process?
