Self-compassion and your inner narrator
Your inner voice is the voice in your head that you talk to yourself with. It narrates your daily experiences and provides a running commentary of everything happening around you. Your inner voice is an important thing to tune into, but don't believe everything you think. Your inner narrator is shaped by your past relationships, experiences, and beliefs. It can be unfairly harsh and critical and unkind or overly positive and unrealistic. So why is understanding your inner voice so important for resilience? When you're going through a tough moment, you'll want to look at the situation objectively rather than getting caught up in negative narratives. The more you understand about your inner voice, the more you can distinguish when to listen to it and when to talk back to it. We're going to work on helping you separate facts from the stories, biases, and judgments that your inner voice layers on top.
