- [Instructor] Before wrapping up the course, let me introduce you to image cuts, an application of image processing in the amazing art of computational photography. These are the techniques used by photographic software like Photoshop or your smartphone's camera. Cuts are a family of pixel-level operations. It's just like cutting a printed photograph with scissors. Cuts are useful for stitching pictures together as we'll see shortly, but cuts have a wide variety of other applications like seam carving, for example, which is a technique for resizing images by adding or removing pixels with the same type of cuts you are about to see. A very natural application of cuts is in stitching two images together. Let me show you an example.
