- BJ Fogg is a professor at Stanford. He's known as the billionaire maker as graduates from his course have gone to create apps you might have heard of such as Snapchat and Instagram. The Fogg behavior model illustrates that the easier something is to do, the more likely we will do it. For example, we will spend more time scrolling on newsfeeds as there's no ends, no friction, nothing's stopping us. We can reverse that and use it to our favor. By making bad habits a little harder, it's more likely we won't do them, back to that idea of putting the cookie jar on a higher shelf. We can use tools to put friction in place and work as guardrails for our digital habits. There are hundreds of tools. However, before you spend money, start with the tools that are built into your devices. Android and Apple devices have modes such as sleep, focus, and driving.
