- The big story being told about AI coding tools is that they can build entire applications from a single prompt, which also implies they can and will replace software developers in their jobs. Your reaction to that story will depend on many factors, including what type of developer work you do, your feelings and understandings about AI, and how much you've worked with these tools yourselves. That goes for me too. So if you'll allow me, I'm going to try to perform a balancing act here to stay centered between what is objectively demonstrable, my educated, but subjective experiences working with these tools for a long time, and my personal opinions about where we find ourselves right now, and where we're headed next.
