SMTP, POP3, and IMAP4

- [Jenny] Successful email transfer and delivery consists of two protocols, a mail retrieval protocol, and a mail transfer protocol. SMTP, which stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, as the name suggests, is our mail transfer protocol. We can use either IMAP4 or POP3 as our mail retrieval protocol. I think of the mail retrieval protocol as kind of like the mailman that comes to my front door with my mail, it goes right to my PC. All three of these protocols live at layer seven of the TCP/IP model. We're going to configure SMTP and POP3 on our mail server right now. Just a little note here, Packet Tracer does not support IMAP4, which is a newer version of a mail retrieval protocol. We're going to go into our server BR2, Server 1, and we'll go to EMAIL, and you'll notice that we have SMTP service on, POP3 service on. The first thing we want to do is set a domain name.
