- Unfortunately, when you search around for definitions for comparisons of continuous delivery, continuous integration, and continuous deployment, you get plenty of conflicting views. About all people agree on is that they're all continuous. So here's what we're going to do. I'm going to give you my definitions, which are influenced by the developer community and my own experience with living in all three paradigms for more than 15 years. This is the definition I'll be using throughout this course, so you can count on at least some consistency here in this course. When we're done with this course, you'll be free to adopt other people's views, but at least you'll have a strong foundation. So what is continuous delivery? I view continuous delivery as a mindset more than a tool. It's an engineering paradigm or way of thinking in which teams deliver independent, cohesive, working value in a continuous manner.
