Smoothing it out with custom normals

- We're going to continue our exploration of Blender 2.8 updates by looking at the new submenu from normals including all the awesome functions available and a brand new customized normals shortcut Let me show you Now first, let's select our cube go to edit mode come over here and go to overlays, scroll down and let's turn on this normal overlay right here If I zoom in, you'll see these little pink, purplish things pointing off from each vertices These are my normals What is a normal? Simply put, it tells Blender how to calculate shading across the surface So if I select this vertices right here, and hit R and then N, you can see that I'm starting to play with how that shading is calculated. Rotate it on X, Z, or Y and get some pretty wicked results. Now, you might ask yourself, now why would you do this? Well, if you hit A twice, and then A again, you can control+F, shade smooth, and now you can see, if I tab out of edit mode, how this cube is really smooth. Game engines use this as…
