What's in Chapter 7?
- [Instructor] In this chapter, we're going to shift our attention to other popular file formats, so specifically CAD file formats and Civil 3D files. So, Civil 3D uses the AutoCAD DWG format. We can incorporate AutoCAD files directly into our workflow, but if they're coming from Civil 3D, then we have even more enhanced features that work directly with BIM Collaborate Pro. So, I'll show you examples of both a more generic working with CAD files and also working with them from Civil 3D. And what's going to enable both of those connections is the Desktop Connector, so you will need to make sure that you have that installed. It's a free piece of software that you can download and install from autodesk.com, and we looked at doing so back in the first chapter of the course, so go back and review that now if you need to install it.
