- Now let's learn a tune I call Jimmy's Boogie because it's played in the style of boogie master, Jimmy Yancey. We're going to slow down a bit for this tune, and play in a more pronounced swing or triplet feel like the shuffles you played earlier. Let's learn the left hand part first. We'll be outlining a triad. The pattern is root, root up an octave, three, five, and back to three, five. (slow boogie-woogie music) Okay, in the fourth measure, we can use that measure to walk from the C chord to the F chord. Okay, walking or moving stepwise between two notes is another feature of boogie-woogie playing. Here we'll be walking from a C to an F in four beats. This adds even more motion to the bass line. Here's the bass pattern played through the whole form. (slow boogie-woogie music) Now let's learn the right hand part. On the right hand, you'll be playing off of a triad. Here's a C triad.
