- I'm pretty open about the fact that giving feedback used to be really hard for me. I would get caught up in the potential impact that negative feedback could have on a relationship or on the recipient. If I wasn't careful, I could put off giving feedback for way too long. Like anything, giving good feedback is something that takes intention and practice. I've developed an awful lot of people into managers, and I couldn't have done that without giving good, honest feedback. It's part of being a manager, and a great manager is a master at giving great feedback. So I want you to give feedback that has value, and here's the trick. Feedback has to have utility.
