Develop a marketing budget and plan

(light music) - One of the problems with us artists and photographers is we tend to be idealists and dreamers. We think that if we create great work the clients will come, the business it'll take care of itself. But it doesn't necessarily happen that way. Just like any business when you launch something you need to come up with a strategy for marketing. And often that means that you first need to set aside funds. You need to come up with a budget. And when it comes to marketing family and kid photography one of the things you want to keep in mind is that the print is king. In other words because we're visual art you need to create brochures or postcards or business cards. Because when people see those they really get the idea. Next you have to think about, well how do I distribute these things? How do I spread the word? Of course you can use social media. You can chat with family and friends.
