- [Host] The Internet of Things rollout is moving crazy fast. Companies are putting sensors and wireless devices in factories, buses, wearables, smart buildings, farm equipment and more. It's estimated that by the year 2025, there will be between 40 and 75 billion IOT devices. Whatever the real number we can depend on seeing huge growth in this area. Imagine this scenario. Your building management company manages 200 office buildings, each building fitted with 1200 IOT devices, from elevator sensors to security cameras, from smoke detectors to temperature sensors. Each device captures a snapshot of its data, 12 times a second, every hour, every day. That's over 2 billion data points to store every month.
