- [Instructor] The Azure Backup service provides simple, secure, and cost-effective solutions to back up your data and recover it From the Microsoft Azure Cloud. There are several backup agents and services available. Each one is optimized for backing up certain types of data. The two most common agents are the MARS and the MABS agents. MARS is the abbreviation for Microsoft Azure Recovery Services. MABS is the acronym for Microsoft Azure Backup Server. Backups work for all of these Azure Cloud services. That means you can back up your virtual machines, your file shares, your managed disks, your blob data, and there's a couple of places where you can back up your databases, SQL Server databases on virtual machines and PostgreSQL databases. For Azure virtual machines, you get independent and isolated backups to guard against accidental destruction of original data.
