Introduction to Microsoft Entra ID
- [Instructor] Microsoft Entra ID is central to securing identities in the Azure Cloud. Entra ID is a cloud-based identity and access management service, previously known as Azure Active Directory, or Azure AD. You can use it to authenticate and authorize your users when they need to access resources in your on-premises environment and the Azure infrastructure. At the onset, we should make it clear that Entra ID is not simply a cloud version of the traditional Windows Server Active Directory. More about this later in the video. You can use Entra ID to regulate access to external and internal resources. External resources include the Azure Portal, Microsoft Office 365, and other SaaS or software-as-a-service applications. Internal resources include applications on your corporate network and your intranet. Now, let's look at some use cases for Entra ID. You can use Entra ID for authentication.
