Creating and managing budgets
- [Instructor] No one likes to be surprised by a large bill at the end of the month. Suppose somebody left a costly virtual machine running that is not being used or accidentally selected the wrong virtual machine size. Some virtual machines cost tens of thousands of euros a month. This is where budgets come in. Budgets proactively inform teams so that they can manage costs and monitor spending over time. For example, you can configure a budget for 25 euros which will be reset at the end of each month. The budget will notify you when it's at a certain threshold that you can configure. When a budget is exceeded, the resources aren't affected by stopping their consumption. Budgets are evaluated every 24 hours and reset automatically at the end of each period, which can be monthly, quarterly, or yearly. When a budget expires, it is automatically deleted.
