Azure Reservations
- [Instructor] When you reserve resources in advance, you can save on running costs with Azure reservations. With reservations, you reserve capacity for one or three years, which lets Microsoft plan its data center capacity more efficiently. You're then rewarded with lower rates. Without the reservation, you are charged at pay-as-you-go rates. But with one, you can reduce your resource costs by up to 72%. Reservations and their savings are applied automatically to the matching resources. And as of this recording, more than 20 different services support reservations. So when should you use Azure reservations instead of Azure savings plans? With reservations, you commit to using a specific type of compute instance or instance family, in a particular region, for a set period. For example, you commit to using a D2s_v5 virtual machine in the West Europe region for one year.
