- [Instructor] With an understanding of what a global accelerator is and what it can do, consider the following scenario. You are operating an application running on an EC2 server in the Mumbai ap-south-1 Region. To give yourself flexibility, you decide to put an elastic IP in front of the server itself. This lets you do all kinds of interesting things, like blue-green deployments. Users who are geographically close to Mumbai get great network performance due to geographic proximity. After operating for some time, news of your service spreads, you attract users in the United States. Since these new users are hitting the elastic IP in the Mumbai region, they follow a twisting path over the public internet to get to that IP because requests are being routed over the public internet.
