File Gateway vs. Volume Gateway vs. Tape Gateway

- [Instructor] AWS Storage Gateway is a hybrid cloud storage service that connects your on-premises data storage through AWS resources. It allows your on-premises servers to seamlessly use the AWS storage services for backups or data integration. It is primarily used to integrate your local and cloud storage systems. In AWS Storage Gateway, there are three types that you can choose from. They are the File Gateway, Volume Gateway and Tape Gateway. These three gateway types are all using Amazon S3 to store data as part of their processing. However, these gateways differ on their storage type, active directory support, use case, and other integration features. Let's discuss them one by one in this lesson. First, we'll look at the storage types of each gateway. A File Gateway is a type of file storage, just as its name implies. A Volume Gateway is block storage and the Tape Gateway is taped storage.
