- [Instructor] In this lecture, we'll briefly talk about the instance user data. An instance user data is basically the data or a set of commands that will be run by the EC2 instance once it is launched. You are the one who will provide the custom user data for EC2 instance. This feature automates your EC2 instance launch process. The user data eliminates the need to manually connect to your instance and run the commands one by one to your newly launched instance. You just have to simply add your user data to your instance, so these commands will be run automatically during launch. This is quite helpful if you have multiple EC2 instances that must be connected with an Amazon Elastic File System or grouped together in an autoscaling group.
