Course introduction
- Hi, my name is Noah Gift and I'm the founder of Pragmatic AI Labs. We have a lot of content on educational platforms, but this course is a little bit special because it covers something I really care about, which is the command line. I've been doing things with the command line for 30 years, even in college, I remember using the command line to check mail, that's when we used to use Unix terminals to do things. And what's really interesting about the command line is that it has never gone away in terms of the productivity gains you get from using it compared to clicking things on a GUI. And what's really interesting is that generative AI tools can enhance your ability to do things with a command line. The thing that maybe you would complain about when you're using the command line is the verbosity, it's so specific that it gets annoying to have to type a particular command over and over again, but with these tools that can help auto-complete things or give you suggestions like Amazon Q, this is really the power of the new age we're in. So I would say embrace the command line, embrace generative AI to help you with the command line and you can learn all of that in this course. We cover things like how to do full workflows from Cloud Shell to Docker, full workflows for building things with infrastructure as code, CDK, and also how to use Cloud Shell, even as a hacked development environment using Rust. So there's a lot of little tricks inside of here as well, I would say this is one of the funnest courses I've done in a while. I hope you enjoy as well, talk to you soon.
