Create alignments from objects

- [Instructor] Now that you know a little bit about alignments, it's time to create some new ones. Let's see how it's done when you create them from objects already in the drawing. If we zoom in a little bit on this drawing, we see that there are three polylines representing the three road center lines for our project, one for Jordan Court, one for Madison Lane, and one for Logan Court. To get started, on the Home tab of the ribbon, we'll click the Alignments dropdown and select Create Alignment from Objects. I'll select the Jordan Court polyline and press Enter. Notice there is a black arrow resting on the center line. That's telling us the direction of the alignment, and that's important because the stationing is going to increase in the direction that the arrow is pointing. For our example here, it should be pointing to the south. If it's pointing to the north on your screen, click Reverse on the command line.
