- [Instructor] In the engineering world, we often have the need to share P&ID drawing files with other people, be it facility managers, third-party engineering companies, or contractors. Some of them may not have access to the AutoCAD P&ID software, so we have to convert our P&ID drawings to regular AutoCAD files for them to open. Here's how we find the tool to do that. So let's open a drawing. We'll open 12_01_P&ID. Now even though we know this is AutoCAD and this is a regular dwg file, if we actually look at the components that we have here, and check the Properties, we'll see that this isn't a line, this is an SLINE. This is a proprietary shape that we use in the P&ID program that's not viewed in regular AutoCAD. So I'm going to show you what happens if we send this dwg file as is to one of our contractors.
