GSE debt
- [Narrator] So far, when we talked about super nationals, sovereigns, and sovereign agencies, we've tended to focus on Europe and other parts of the world. Now let's get back to the US and in that country, there's a middle layer of almost US government security debt, which is called GSE Debt. GSE, which stands for government-sponsored enterprises or government-sponsored entities are US agencies that are tasked with purposes, such as facilitating home ownership for Americans, providing funding for agricultural purposes, and student loan financing. Now, these GSEs were all created by acts of the US Congress, starting with Farm Credit in 1916. And while some of them have passed on to fully private or semi-private ownership, the roles are pretty much all the same, and that is to provide more efficient lending of capital to the targeted area of industry and borrower.
