Modelling

Modelling

- 3D models are the core of 3D animation. They're like the blueprint of a house before you actually build it. The models themselves are made up of three essential pieces. Let's take a look. The first are vertices. These are three-dimensional points like a dot or a corner inside digital space. When you have a bunch of these dots together, you get a 3D object. Connecting these dots gets you an edge. This tells your 3D software that these two dots need to be talking to each other. Edges are important because they create a flow. We call these edge loops and edge rings. You can think of edges like typology on a map. An edge makes sense when all the dots are flowing together nicely, creating valleys and peaks. Finally, you fill in three or four edges to create a face. Generally speaking, you want four edges to make a face. This is known as a quad, because this will give you the smoothest, nicest shape. Plus you can really…
