That's the effect of building your network strategically. Throughout my undergraduate career, I've made it a point to explore as many things as possible. I've had the opportunity to work at a Fortune 100 company, three startups, four venture capital funds, and an international nonprofit. I managed to do all of this while in school, and I got 90% of these opportunities through building a strong and meaningful network. This probably isn't the first time you've heard this sentiment. And network, network, network has been the evergreen mantra of the job market and professional world.
