Introduction to EC2 purchasing options
- [Narrator] Now let's shift gears and talk about EC2 purchasing options. When launching EC2 instances in your AWS account, you have the option to use different purchasing options. These purchasing options allow you to optimize costs and usage based on your needs. There are seven purchasing options in total, starting with on-demand instances, capacity reservations, spot instances, reserved instances, savings plans, dedicated instances, and dedicated hosts. Let's talk about some of the use cases for these purchasing options. On-demand EC2 instances allow you to get started with EC2 without any long-term commitments. With reserved instances, you can reserve capacity with upfront payment in exchange for a billing discount. Spot instances allow you to use spare EC2 capacity available at lower costs. And with dedicated instances and dedicated hosts, you can run your EC2 instances on dedicated hardware. So as you can see, there are different use cases and scenarios, and EC2 purchasing options make these possible. In the following videos, we'll explore each of these purchasing options in detail.
