- A Chinese company called Moonshot is making a big splash with a new reasoning model based on their K2 series called Kimi K2 Thinking. It beats almost all other models in certain performance metrics. So we'll take a look at why this is a significant moment, and then we'll try it out in some tasks. Reasoning models can do more than just answer questions based on absorbed knowledge. They can create plans for how a question should be answered, execute the plan, and reflect, and verify the answers. You can see this happening when I give a tool like ChatGPT a reasoning question like this scheduling problem, and I make sure that I turn on the Thinking mode. Reasoning models will always take the information and process it by making a plan on how they're going to accomplish the task, executing the plan, and make changes whenever necessary.
