Setup costs for AI APIs
- [Instructor] Let's discuss the setup costs when using AI APIs. The powerful value of using AI APIs is avoiding traditional investments into large software purchases or hardware. This allows companies to be more agile, makes technology more accessible for smaller teams or firms. When working with APIs as a service, there may be discounts for upfront purchasing or certain billing commitments. Now, not all AI APIs are elastic. For certain larger contracts, you might be billed annually, which might impact your cash flow, and many enterprises choose to sign long-term contracts. For example, a large European telecom signed a $1.5 billion contract over 10 years for AI services with a large cloud provider. Because of the shift from set up costs to ongoing costs, we'll need to spend more time on the latter in our next video.
