Customizing the interface - After Effects Tutorial
From the course: AI and Machine Learning Tools for After Effects
Customizing the interface
- [Instructor] Depending on the version you are using, the After Effects interface may look different on your machine. If you want to customize it so it would look like mine, here's what you should do. First, click on the AE icon to hide the home screen. Then go to the Preferences menu. Here on the PC, it's under the Edit menu. On the Mac side, it's under the After Effects menu, and it's called Settings. You can go directly to the Startup and Repair tab where you can uncheck enable home screen. I personally don't find the home screen so useful, and I don't want to see it every time I open the app. Totally up to you, but when you choose to do it, it will also hide itself from the toolbar panel. Next and more important is to make the timeline occupy the bottom third of the screen, similar to how After Effects looked prior to version 2023. I believe that the timeline is the most important panel here and should get more real…
