- [Instructor] When a backlog item is moved into the Done column in an Agile board, that item is considered to be potentially releasable. But what defines the criteria that must be met for an item to be considered done? Scrum defines that criteria as the Definition of Done. The Definition of Done can be applied to a product backlog item, or to an increment, or release. It defines the criteria that must be met when an artifact is considered done. The Definition of Done is typically defined by an organization and is applicable to the entire organization. If the Definition of Done is not defined at an organization level, it should be defined by a team. Different teams can have their own definitions of done but the definitions should not contradict each other. In other words, their combined output should still be potentially releasable.
